A dream of many comes into reach with this recently in price reduced Country House in Casares, inland Andalusia. This lovely 2-bedroom cottage is built to the highest standard and has a nice plot of land to either keep a horse, some sheep, or even plant vines to create your own wine label. This property is currently priced at 399.000€.
The house is west orientated and has fabulous views over the Genal valley, the Mediterrenean, Gibraltar and Africa. On your privately located terrace you will enjoy the most spectacular sunsets which will turn the sky in all differnent tones of red. One of the local restaurants, Venta la Laguna, located nearby, is visited by many just for that reason!
Living here is truely experience the Andalucian countryside. Although the luxury of Marbella and the coast is on your doorstep, here you will be soaked in a completely different lifetsyle. You will have chats with the local goatherd and be invited to try the homemade chorizo or bloodsausage (morcilla). If you want, your neighbours will come and help you to plant your own vegetable garden. You cannot imagehow good f your own ecologically grown tomatoes or peppers will taste!
And yes, if you’re brave enough you will really start farming. Hobby vineyards are very hot these days and quite easy to plant and maintain. Although Ronda is known for it’s top rank vineyards, Casares has a history in wine as well. Sure, around the neighbouring village of Manilva you can still find the grapes for the sweet portlike Málaga wine yet in the Roman days the hills around Casares were covered in vines as well. It would be interesting to investigate to recover these old vines. Stepping back in time! We know of at least two large estates, fincas in the area that are trying to do just that.
Hesitating to start farming? No worries, again the neighbours will help out to keep your land clear. They will offer their sheep or goats to graze the land. No need for a lawn mower here. The sheep will take care of maintenance for free. Well, you would have to check your fence though. Don’t let them in your private garden! They will eat your carefully grown garden plants, your flowers, your trees, your hedges and your veggies! Chasing sheep, can you see yourself doing this? Instead of runnign to catch the train to downtown London?
