It’s summer season and most of us aren’t as thrilled to hear about hikes and physically-intensive activities. What we want to hear about are summer plans! So let’s get into it!
Tinto de Verano-ing at Chiringuitos
Ah summer in Andalucía! It is a rich season for many different reasons. Firstly, the gastronomical experience comes to life because the Chiringuitos finally open again! Chiringuitos are at the core, the essence, the heart of Andalusian culture in summer. Are you going for lunch? You will meet at a chiringuito. Or perhaps you quenched after a day on the beach? You will walk to the nearest chiringuito to enjoy an ice cold beer or the classic Tinto de Verano con Limón.
If you don’t know what a tinto de Verano is yet, then I suggest you drive yourself to a chiringuito and order one! Tinto de Verano is probably the most refreshing and most common drink around here. It is a perfect mix between red wine and Seven Up, or Fanta Lemon, with ice!
Gastronomy is better in summer
This is not a lie. I promise. Throughout the entire year you can enjoy a delicious Dorada at any good fish restaurant, that is the truth. However, after I say what I have to say, you won’t argue with me anymore. Picture this: it’s 27 degrees celsius, you feel the breeze in your face, you have your feet in the sand, are listening to the sound of the waves and can see people swimming in the Mediterranean Sea. With that setting, I promise you that the very same Dorada you ordered in November will taste better at a Chiringuito! Why? Because that’s just how it is.
And let me tell you this, if you are lucky, you’ll see the diver appear out of the water and approach your table. He will hold up a fish and ask you if you want it. Have you ever tasted fish fresher than that? Trust me, the gastronomy is better, purely because of the environmental context.
BBQ Dreaming
During summer in Spain, the perfect plan is to sunbathe by the pool whilst you dream of a good BBQ. You wake up from your sweet dreams, all confused because the BBQ is not on. You run inside, find your car keys and race down to the coast to do some quick groceries! From this beautiful country home, the supermarkets are only 20 minutes away so you will be back in no time to make your BBQ dream come true!
