What to do in Benalup-Casas Viejas and Costa de la Luz

Its situation and its magnificent climate have made it coveted for thousands of years by Tartessians, Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans, Visigoths and Arabs. Hence the Costa de la Luz being so rich in history and archaeological remains, like the spectacular Baelo Claudia Roman ruins, on the stunning beach of Bolonia.

One of the main attractions is walking through its beautiful white villages: Vejer de la Frontera, Jerez, El Puerto de Santa María, Zahara de los Atunes and Barbate are some of the gems of this part of Andalusia that you must visit. Of course, many of these towns face the coast, with extensive beaches of clear waters and the finest golden sand of Spain. Los Lances, Bolonia, Cabo de la Plata and Valdevaqueros are ideal beaches for surfing, windsurfing and kite surfing.

If you like horse riding, there is no greater beauty than riding along one of its beaches while the sun sets over the Atlantic Ocean. The Costa de la Luz is well known for its equestrian schools and for its international dressage and jumping competitions in the Montenmedio horse riding centre.

With its 300 days of sunshine, Benalup is a perfect destination. It is ideally located between the beaches and the Sierra de Grazalema. The beaches, hiking areas and white villages are accessible by car in just 20 minutes.
