What would your life look like if you were moving to Spain? Just picture what it would be life to start a life in the countryside in Andalucía. A life here, I am sure, will feel like a life come true. Especially in this beautiful historic property in Casarabonela

Moving to Spain, Casarabonela

Moving to Spain can be tricky if you don’t know the areas. But worry not! That’s where we step in. During our initial phone call we help you uncover what kind of a lifestyle you are looking for and based on that, we help you find the perfect country home. Here’s a small checklist for you; answer these questions for yourself:

  • Do you want to live inland Andalucía and be relatively far from the coast for peace and tranquility?
  • Do you want to have a large plot of land that ensures privacy?
  • Do you prefer the local and authentic lifestyle over the coastal & touristic lifestyle?
  • Do you like exploring small towns and eating local food?
  • Do you want to live in a country property that is absolutely unique?

If your answer is yes, then it is unquestionable that you will love to live in this cortijo in Casarabonela! It is located just outside of the town, so you are always close enough to get some last minute groceries, or go to town for breakfast, or to attend the local, cultural festivities. Just about 30 minutes away from Málaga, you are far enough inland to feel the privacy and the calm rustic lifestyle, but you are still close enough to the airport, or if you feel like escaping to the city one day to see the latest exhibition in eg. The Picasso Museum.

The surrounding towns have enough activities throughout the year of their own, so you will always feel the excitement of something happening right around the corner. Also, just in case you didn’t know, often the inland cuisine is flabbergasting! You wouldn’t expect that a random Venta in some inland town can make such delicious food. But they have a secret they are willing to share with you: They cook with their hearts, and maintain the recipes that are generations old. They cook the classics that always hit the sweet spot.

Living in this beautiful spot in Casarabonela, you have endless vistas and no direct neighbours in sight! This level of privacy is unheard of closer to the coast. You have more than enough land to keep animals, a horse if you like! In fact, in the old days, the cortijo was used as a farm where they kept animals; if they did it then, you can do it today!

The old days

The old days are probably the most interesting part of this cortijo. If you are moving to Spain for this country property, then I can only imagine you must be so curious to know all the ins and outs. In our previous blog, we spoke a bit about the history of the area as well as what kind of an importance the estate had! In this blog we will give you a little introduction to how the property was used and what it must have looked like. Keep reading if you are curious!

Hundreds of years ago this Cortijo was a barn, a farm, with a completely different layout than what it has today. The property has been adapted depending on what was necessary. Since the area is fantastic to keep horses, there must have been stables! In fact, they were located where the bodega is today. The bodega connects to the dining room, which back in the day was the bard with food storage. The living room was just the front patio where the animals could go outside.
